Did you guys know we can change our screen names ?

Postby Ace Rimmer » Sat Jan 28, 2012 8:13 am

Sometimes I am really tired of Metaluna as my nom de plume. I just picked that without much thought when I joined.
Just thought I'd mention this to anybody who is not happy with their screen name or the spelling, whatever, you can change it very easily.

Go to your

User Control Panel

Click on the Profile tab.

Then on the left side you will see a choice, click on:

Edit account settings

All you then have to do it type in a new name, give your password and hit submit.

And it’s changed.

Hey this is kinda fun!

Nevermind my PM, Kane!

I see the answer here!

I decided to drop max from the name and go with Mercury.

Awesome Dude! I hope this doesn't drive people nuts, but I think it is pretty fun.

My only suggestion is if anybody makes a radical name change to put and A.K.A. in your signature so we know who you are.

Should be no problem there. I'll just be the nutter Admin who can't decide on a nom de plume!

Excellent idea! I change my name quite often on my own board, and have my "real" name as my 'title' (under my username) ;)

That was tooooo easy. I have fun figuring out peoples locations. The Q continuum was easy, my nickname's been Q for the last few years, but for a totally different reason than Start Trek. ........ Here's a quiz:
I've used the same location since joining here, anyone know where it's from?
... Peace.
A.k.a.- do I really have to spell my old name out forwards?

We know who you are, Corey. One only has to do the aka briefly until people know who it is if they change the name completely.

BTW, Diana Moon Glampers is Metaluna's real name!

Name changes!

Postby Saxoneer » Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:20 pm

Okay, what's with the name changing every five minutes? It's getting pretty confusing!

I merged this topic with the ongoing one on name changes. We now have the ability (or always had but just discovered it) to change names and some of us are doing so. If you do make a radical name change, put an AKA in your signature with your original name until we know who you are.

YeroC you are having one rainy wish with Jimi Hendrix, I think I know all the words to all of his songs. When he died, that was really the day music died. And his work sounds just as good today as it did oh so many decades ago.

I thnk Kurt Vonnegut was the most brilliant man to ever put words on paper.

Diana Moon Glampers is a character in Harrison Bergeron , a short story he wrote.

And I am sorry the name changing is getting confusing Saxoneer.

Youre right, Diana Moon Glampers, about Jimi and music. I cried so hard, I put my guitar down for 14 years.
Then started a Hendrix tribute band called Thirdstone.
Now I play sitar everyday.
Gotta get my wife into Vonnegut jr. She loves sci-fi.
... Peace.

Nice to know another great fan of Jimi Hendrix. And Kurt Vonnegut. I bet your wife would love Sirens of Titan, even though my personal fav's are Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse Five. But I do really have trouble putting his works in any sort of order. Although his best years were when he still had the Jr. on his name. Well except for Deadeye Dick and Galapagos. I think they are both some of his best work too.

Thnx, Luna, for the tips on Kurt Vonnegut jr., definitely telling my wife.
When we were married the summer of '96, I had the mayor of Cape May Point perform the ceremony. Had him read the lyrics to One Rainy Wish. Thnx, Jimi. ... We've been living "that timeless day" ever since.
... Peace.

I got my boys listening to Jimi Hendrix after they were stating how good hip hop was. I told them the artists of today have nothing on Jimi and then brought out some CDs of his and they got hooked. He is just as relevant today as ever if not more.

Hey merc. The Hendrix album that One Rainy Wish is from is Axis: Bold as Love. I'm sure I listed it as my favorite album on the Entertainment forum. Starts with an alien interview and spaceship blast-off.
Plus, the song If 6 was 9 is my favorite........ Now......if you'll excuse me,... I must be on my way.............
... Peace.

That is a great story about your wedding yeroC. I love that album too.
It is pure Magic, rarely do you ever find an album where EVERY bloody song is brilliant.

And Mercury, kudos for introducing your boys to Jimi Hendrix.

I also introduced them to the Beatles and other bands of the 1960s and 1970s. Album rock if you will and they love it.

Here's a true story about Jimi Hendrix that I doubt hardly anyone knows. It was told to me by John Long, who was going to try out to be Hendrix's singer before Jimi took over. John and his wife saw me playing my sitar, sitting under a photo of Jimi, hanging on my gallery wall. The story goes like this:
One day, Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones calls John up and tells him to come over, Jimi Hendrix is on his way. So he goes over, and when Hendrix walked in the door, he says, Brian, what's that, a sitar? Brian says yeah, its mine, ya wanna try playing? So he sits Jimi down with the sitar, and Jimi jammed out on it! Wow!
... Peace.

Move over Rover and let Jimi take over.
Good story and I can not even imagine Jimi Hendrix not doing the singing. I bet he was crazy good on the sitar.

I would love to have heard that session, really.
I sold around 20 sitars from India to Americans who never played before. And I gotta say, a few of them were sounding pretty damn good on their first try. Of course, they had me to thank for their first lesson.
This guy John Long made a documentary about Hendrix, but it got tied up legally, last I heard.
... Peace.
