"Exploration of Humanity Continuous for Planetary Advancement" -- how did this message come about from 6 pages of binary code written down by TSGT Penniston? I don't understand how they got that. Interesting though, especially the longitude and latitude coordinates that pointed to Hi Brazil (sp?) Very compelling episode tonight (Dec. 30).

I'm glad somebody else brought this up. I have to say it sure beats the hell out of me. When people start going down that road I am completely lost!
But I enjoyed this episode and I do believe Penniston, well both men, seemed to be genuinely disturbed about their encounter even after 30 years.

What I want to know is when is the trip to the coordinates? Lets get digging, swimming, searching!

I never heard of Hy Brasil except in a movie once, I remember a character was going to go to Hy Brasil or try and find it, anyway....

"The legendary land of Hy Brasil (sometimes spelled Hy Brazil or Hoy Brazil or endless variations thereon) has indeed been seen for centuries to the west of Ireland, a sort of Gaelic equivalent of the Mediterranean’s Fata Morgana. Every village on the west coast has its own stories and legends concerning its origin and meaning. My favourite was related to me by a fisherman in the tiny village of Croigh, so many years ago I’m surprised I can still remember it. He told me that Hy Brasil was the piece of heaven which the devil had taken with him when he fell from paradise. And where better to put heaven than next to Ireland?

Similarly, according to some legends, the devil himself lies sleeping within that terrible ebony tomb, behind the ivory door. "

Hy-Brasil, the other Atlantis

Very interesting story! I say that during the expedition, if an ivory door is found on a black tomb, DO NOT OPEN IT and BE VERY QUIET!

That makes sense! What lies west of Ireland?

Oak Island!

And somewhere down in the bottom of the Money Pit sits the devil himself within that terrible ebony tomb....

Just teasing

Quit digging!

Don't open that door!

I think it is so extremely fascinating that the longitude and latitude coordinates are directions to a something like Hy Brasil.

I remember the movie, it is Erik the Viking. The film is based largely upon Norse mythology.

Erik learns from the wise woman Freya that Fenrir the wolf has swallowed the sun, plunging the world into the grip of the age of Ragnarök. Erik resolves to travel to Asgard to petition the gods to end Ragnarök. Freya informs him that to do so he must seek the Horn Resounding in the land of Hy-Brasil. The first note blown upon the Horn will take Erik and his crew to Asgard, the second will awaken the gods, and the third will bring the crew home.

This is one funny movie. Just wanted to mention it, but other than this Pythonesque movie it was news to me. Oh they do make it to Hy Brasil and on to Asgard too.

It's just ascii code. And first line actually is "EXPLORATION OG HUMANITY". I guess that's why "of" was in brackets. Image

Everything we are typing here is encoded in binary language and then decoded by other computers. Binary is how all digital information is transferred, including photographs. There are some out there who have programs that will decode a binary system.

If it was just ones and zeros, it would of shown up as gibberish. Either TSgt Penniston was given the code psychically, or he knows how to encode binary.

Also remember the time frame this all took place (when the code was "in-printed") was in the early 1980's. This was during the infant stages of modern day computers.

So to say that he knew what the binary code was in any way would be pretty un-realistic given his role at that time. I personally believe his story, and think the code was given to him with the understanding it would take years for any one to decipher it properly.

Are the aliens (or whatever) realizing we are deciphering their messages faster now then before? Are they testing us before they will show themselves?

I'm not sure i'm 100% buying the whole story, but if he was contacted by ET's who have been scouting him out, and scouting our planet out, they likely knew what language he spoke and what language they needed to convey to him.

It is quite possible that, yes it translates into English........look at the world today, there are few countries you can go to who do NOT understand English. Aside from third world countries, America is the only great nation who doesn't teach another language until high school. By that time, our brains are so developed that it is difficult to learn. Most Countries teach English while the children are in their first few grades and all throughout their educational career.

http://hubpages.com/hub/Teach-Your-Chil ... eyre-Young

(clip) According to research by the British Council, "English has official* or special status in at least seventy-five countries with a total population of over two billion. English is spoken as a native* language by around 375 million and as a second language* by around 375 million speakers in the world. Speakers of English as a second language will soon outnumber those who speak it as a first language. Around 750 million people are believed to speak English as a foreign language*. One out of four of the world's population speak English to some level of competence. Demand from the other three-quarters is increasing."

So, ya, I believe they would have used English.

It can translate into any language the user wants it to translate to. If TSgt Penniston received the transmission psychically, then he would of received the English version.

I am sure the extraterrestrials would have a form of universal translator for others throughout the universe.

translations, sure... so your saying it went like this:

1. Translate message to language that he understands (English)
2. 'Bury' (re-encode) this ENGLISH message into BINARY (something he DOESNT understand). This BINARY code represents the ENGLISH ONLY message written in bin digits
3. Wi-Fi it over to his brain
4. Leave him to translate the BINARY back into ENGLISH

Translation FAIL? As far as a translation goes, BINARY is useless here.

in this story BINARY is used specifically to communicate ENGLISH asc characters. if some type of (universal) MATHEMATICAL message were buried in BINARY then this would be something impressive as that is said to be a universal language

after all this, I hope some part of its true.

Decode my sig. I have a message there. (lol, how easy it is to ridicule something)
That's why I always try to stick to the things that can be touched and seen. I'm not saying that those two gentlemen are frauds, my point is that the AAT concept doesn't have the luxury to be debunked and laughed after anymore. Let's stick to the things that the biggest woodhead scientist could not oppose. I didn't like that part of the episode although it was a good in general.
And I don't think that any alien being would leave a message so easy to decode. Given all the solid evidence we have around the planet, it's obvious that almost all of the facts are hard to explain/accept. It's not meant to be easy, folks. So in my opinion the whole 'craft in the woods' story should be left behind until something solid pops out.
So I would personally be more satisfied to see in the series more and more, and more about the pyramids and ancient physical evidences. There is so much that they could show us, so they would probably have material for a few more seasons. Wouldn't you agree?

Great point Nikola. This is why i tend to shy away from modern UFO stories, crop circles and abductions. The best evidence we have are writings and structures from centuries ago that mainstream logic have failed to explain. The best way to get our message across is to point out something from our past, explain the mainstream theory, explain the AAT spin on it, and let someone objectively decide. For many things, the choice will be clear...and people will wake up.

UFO stories are too easy to explain as "oh that guy is just a crazy old man" and we don't have a rebuttal for it. Yes there are hundreds of these stories so maybe the greater whole of the evidence is enough to turn some heads, but there are few individual cases that the mainstream doesn't laugh off...better to stick to historical evidence.

I have a bit of trouble buying the whole binary code message myself. Its not like the Rendallshan Forrest event is new. Its been around for years and this is the first anyone has heard about a coded message coming from touching the ship. If he had divulged that bit of info back then it would be different. but to wait until a time when anyone can make there own binary coded message to release that info is a bit suspect to me. And why binary? If they have the tech to transmit ones and zeros telepathically with such a degree of accuracy why not just zap him with the regular un-coded message in plain english which is much shorter and wouldnt take 30+ years to find out. It's one of those stories where you just have to take their word for it. And the fact that they are ex-military personnel really doesnt make me believe it anymore than if it were anyone else. I've spent years in the military and trust me when I tell you there are plenty of high ranking personnel that are full of s**t and will say and do unethical things to further their position on anything. Are these guys those type of people I dont know. They can be telling the truth yeah, I dont know, but it's not impossible that they are pulling our legs to stay in the attention spotlight.

That's the problem. Binary Is SIMPLE and Also absolutely useless here.

I agree. It serves no purpose to do this from an intelligent entity stand point. What is the point of giving someone a message if they might never find out what it was. And the content of the message itself is pretty general and again what's the reasoning behind that? If it is real, I have to wonder about the level of intelligence of these ETs. Maybe they were teenage ETs pranking some humans. I believe the Events of Rendelshan were real but I have my reasons to suspect the binary thing to be BS. I'm a huge believer in AAT but it can do without stories that people wont have trouble raising the BS flag on.

FuzzyDuck, I do not know how a universal translator would work. I would guess that the translator would scan the person/alien's mind and telepathically find out what language they speak or understand. Then they would relay such a message in the subjects local language.

What we are talking about seems quite strange, but if the craft is from another world and had the technology to get here, then it is likely it would have the ability to translate and understand all the languages spoken on Earth.

(I watch too much Star Trek and Doctor Who.)

Then when you look at the notebook that is 30yrs old...does it look that old to you? Not to me. I have a notebook from middle school packed away nicely and the pages still turned yellow and that was only 15 years ago....wow I can't believe its been that long lol

No matter how I look at it, the letter F is still simpler than 01100110. If they can slap your mind with that degree of accuracy, they could just have wifi'ed him the original message. I believe ET's have been around since the begining. They'd have English and every other language on their version of itunes for download. They'd know he spoke English because he'd be thinking in English. They could have given him the message plainly but no, it's like a cheesy episode of the X-Files or something. The more I think about it the less I believe it's true.

If he'd have missed more than one letter I think I'd buy it a bit more, but I don't.

Agree. Another point is of all the humans they gave messages to in the ancient times thru modern times, either as a "god" or as their original selves, they have always spoken that humans language or gave them images of their messages..never as a code(that I'm aware of). I do not think they would waste the time and the chance for him to make an error with a code. So, the questions should be why did he choose this specific coordinates? Did the military tell him to claim this idea? and for what purpose? To distract us? maybe....

I was just having a conversation with someone about this and he brought up the possibility that it might be his was of divulging something he might know about Hy Brazil through the military, with a way for him to deny it by saying he got it from ETs. It was an interesting angle I didnt think of, but either way I think he coded the message himself. To what end I dont know.

Just for giggles, I plugged both of those into the Binary translator that someone posted earlier in this thread.

The translator didn't give me an F or a G. Perhaps I did something incorrectly.

This forum community is great... even the opposite opinions are given respectively. Nice change from seeing nothing but flames and ridicule.
