"Coming in 2012..."

Postby seeker1117 » Wed Nov 23, 2011 7:09 pm

Just watched the season finale (will post what I thought of it in the thread for it).

During one of the commercial breaks near the end, they flashed a promo: "Coming in 2012...new episodes of Ancient Aliens"

So I'm thinking "Yay! We WILL have our Season Four!"

And then they say: "Ancient Aliens is moving to H2!" (what used to be "History International").

Now I'm thinking "AAAAARGH!"

We were just about to ditch "expanded cable" and go back to "basic" to save money. "Basic" cable doesn't carry "H2"...only the "expanded" does!

Man, I sure wish there was some other way to get this show besides "cable" TV. TIme Warner Cable is the ONLY game in town here in Austin, and man, I'm SOOOOOOOO tired of givin' them money! And we just got a notice last week that our cable bill is going to go up another $11 dollars a month starting in December...that means in order to keep seeing Ancient Aliens, we'll be shellin' out $145/mo.!!!! ARGH!

Crikey! $145. We pay close to $70 for extended basic or some such thing and it has H2, thankfully. Cable TV is getting outrageously expensive. I'd go to Dish TV or Direct TV, but then we would lose a couple of channels we really like.

Yeah, that includes our "roadrunner" interwebz, but the cable part of it is the majority. They'll be charging us close to ten bucks a month just to "rent" the cable box itself! Talk about a racket! There isn't any real alternative here. We could do the DirectTV thing, but people here say it cuts out during bad weather real bad and yeah, they don't have all the channels. Man, talk about "goodnews/badnews" situations...

I get Dish Network now for $120 a month and that includes ALL the movie channels and HD channels. There are some good bargains to be had out there.

The downside of the dish is when it downpours rain you lose the signal. This doesn't happen too much except for the powerful spring rains (which tend to cause power fluctuations also.

H2 is the former History International channel for those who have that channel now (I never watched it but will now).

I do hope they look at all the mounting evidence out there on the ancient astronaut theory for next season.

The episodes are always posted within a day or two on Youtube, if you're only keeping Expanded for Ancient Aliens. I think honestly it justifies just watching it the day after. Phillip Coppens and often Giorgio himself post the links to the episodes on their facebook pages. Our current Charter package is $119 a month, but doesn't include H2, there is no-way I'm dishing out another extra $20 - $30 a month just to watch one series I can watch on Youtube. Personally I'd rather spend that extra $20 or $30 making sure it goes into Giorgio's pocket to help support Legendary Times by getting the journals and other merch that is put out. Then it would be going to something useful and productive.

Pony: are the episodes "officially" posted and stay up permanently, or is it a fan posting them, so that they're subject to being "Disappeared"? I *don't* do Facebook, and am not going to. Does the show itself have its own YouTube channel?

We have ordered one of those "Roku" boxes in anticipation of cutting back on the cable, and I am pretty sure YouTube is on the list of sites that they stream. My question there is just how GOOD does a YouTube video look on a big screen? Is the quality good, or is it like on a computer where if you try to look at it larger than that little YouTube size, it looks terrible? Anybody have any experience with that?

History Channel often also puts them on their site. But, the whole series so far has been maintained by 2 or 3 specific channels. I don't think they're official but they've never been taken down either. I generally don't advocate this type of viewing for shows as they deserve to get their viewing numbers, it is what helps keep them on the air. But, in a situation like this. And when two of the producers of the series are providing the links, then I don't see a problem with it personally. Plus, I always watch the night it airs, and then again online because I absorb the information better when it goes through my brain a second time.

The History Channel usually waits for the DVD to come out and then will post the videos a few months after that. They want to make money off of the sales, but do post full episodes of earlier episodes after a while. Remember, they only make part of the money through advertising on the channel. DVD and video sales are very big parts of making money off the show.

I have the first two seasons on DVD. I'm not all big and fan type but I still think it would be pretty cool to get the DVD covers signed by as many of the guys as possible, specially my favorite ones. I'm planning on making a t-shirt that says "I don't know, there for aliens." but I want to find a good T-Shirt transfer that works better than the ones I've got that fade after a while. Maybe we could get Giorgio to print a line of them.

I hope they feature Stanton Friedman next season for his take on the AAT. I do want to meet him before he retires from this field.

That would be cool, also it would be interesting to see them do an episode on Aramu Muru, and his influence throughout the cultures and time etc.

Yep they do, but I watch then during my lunch break at work.

The original season episodes are 1hr 28 mins long and are broken up and used again in episodes from later seasons.

I hope any new season uses new interviews and footage and I would really like to see them concentrate on one subject per episode!

Well, we'll definitely buy the DVDs when they come out, so I don't wanna pay for 'em twice. The first two seasons' DVDs were really reasonable as far as price, so I hope they'll make 3 likewise.

btw...we got the Roku box and got it set up....pretty doggone mind-boggling, the amount of stuff you can access. Too bad History Channel hasn't jumped on that bandwagon.

GIORGIO SAVE US!!!!

Please don't let us down this season...

While season 3 had a few REALLY good episodes, it was a lot of theories rather than hard data. I understand the direction you expanded in, but you need to go back to what made the show what it is...

I use to love watching this series! We have basic direct tv, after changing from dish network(it would always cut out at the change of seasons and during stroms! Direct tv is good but doesn't have any good stuff on and AA is never on regular history anymore. We don't pay more than like 50 bucks if even that, good alternative is netflicks that what I use, no commercial break and you get more nice shows besides AA too. Plus its really convenien! Take it that they only have a few seasons on their but more will come, I plan on buying up best buy or no-corporate-stores-here! at Xmas for these!

I hope the season four producers cut down on the level of repetition per episode.
They recap the same thing and repeat the same phrases so often.
I know its so that people who tune into the show from another channel know whats going on,
however it alienates myself as the viewer hearing the same thing over and over and over again for a 50minute episode.

I can hardly wait for Season 4 also. I also hope they expand on some subjects that to me are quite interesting, and deserve a lot more time on them, and less on rehashing the same old themes and sayings form the different researchers. It would be nice for them to really concentrate on ancient sites a lot mroe,a nd on artifacts also found. I think the megalithic structures,a nd their connections, along with languages that have many similar words, and many across the world that have the same exact word with the same meaning, (which by the way many that start with At for an Atlantis origination), which I found from The encyclopedia on Atlantis, is mind boggling, to say the least, how can so many people from all around the world utilize some for the same words for meanings and not have had contact with each other from an advanced civilization, and/or extraterrestrial origins. Also I noticed that some of the stating on tablets of the Anunnaki also utilize these same words and meanings. These words, names, and meanings of which all lead to a centralized ancient island civilization, should be, (in my opinion), expounded upon on a show, along with the megalithic sites that have those connections.
The past has been misconstrued to make believe, but some can see through the veil, while others simply carry on as though the illusion is real!

Well, one thing I'd like to see happen with Season 4 is the producers find a compromise as far as "number of episodes" in the season. it's a Goldilocks/3-bears kinda thing:

Season 3, with SIXTEEN episodes, was too many (they felt rushed, incomplete and like they just skimmed the surface a lot),

Season 2 was ALMOST JUST RIGHT with 10, but left me wanting more,

and Season 1 was not enough with just 5 (although they were longer episodes).

I'd say if they're going to keep the shows short, then have only 12 or 13 and PACK THEM WITH INFO, rather than 16, 3 or 4 of which would've been better not made.

If they're going back to LONGER episodes (please?) then I'd say 8 or 10...that way they could go more in-depth into the subject at hand.

Hey Guys,
I'm new but I joined last night. I don't know if anyone has seen this yet. David Hatcher Childress has updated his World Explorer Club Page And he mentions his involvement and trips to Central & South America for season 4 of Ancient Aliens coming in February.

Thank you for that tidbit, MrKeats. I do hope they deal with the evidence as Mr Childress does in his work. It should be an interesting season if they do.

They had a break between showing the last two episodes. I don't know why they did that, but some networks do split seasons to get more out of them. I also think they were planning to move these type of shows to H2 and leave History for the reality type shows such as Pawn Stars and Axe Men.

Well, to drag this puppy back on topic, looks like we'll be getting THREE NEW EPISODES this coming coupla weeks!

From the H2 website for the show:

"The Doomsday Prophecies" and "The Mayan Conspiracy" are both slated for February 17th, and "The Greys" is set for the 24th. At least we don't have to wait until summer's nearly over, like last year!

They're also replaying some Season One episodes on Thursday the 16th.

So far, there are only generic episode descriptions for the new stuff...hopefully that'll change in the next week before they air.
