There Were Giants Upon the Earth by Zecharia Sitchin

Postby Moon » Thu Jan 27, 2011 11:15 am

This is the final book by the late author and researcher Zecharia Sitchin and it is written as a wrapping up of his theories and ideas. The main point of this new book is the astonishing new evidence he gives that could prove some of the theories to be true.

The book starts out as a review of what was researched before and Mr Sitchin's beliefs and interpretations of the Sumerian tablets. Much of this part of the book has already been covered in his other works, but if one is like me they have not read all of them. I have the first book "The Twelfth Planet", but not any of the others so this is a good collection for my small but growing library.

Mr Sitchin still believes that the planet Nibiru orbits our star Sol every 3600 years. He does not give the next date upon which he says it will return, so 2012 theorists won't get any reimbursements from this book. He also states beings evolved from that planet and visited our Earth, helping to create modern humans. The Nibiru part of his ideas has always been the weakest link of the theory. The unfortunate thing about the Nibiru idea is most of the other ideas and finds are ignored and the debunkers go after the planet theory. One idea is: If the Sumerians were able to record Pluto, why did they not record Charon (Pluto's sister planet), Sedna, Eris, Makemake, etc.

With those questions, the thoughts of visitations from extraterrestrials are not gone into and the statues and other artifacts that show beings in astronaut suits get ignored (made thousands of years ago). While I disagree on how much involvement they had in our creation and history, I do believe we had many visitations by many different beings from other star systems.

The end of the book is dedicated to Mr Sitchin's research of a royal grave site found in 1928. Who it belonged to was a bit of a mystery, until Mr Sitchin found the tablets that were in the tombs revealing the names. With his research of his thought on the Annunaki bloodline, Mr Sitchin states the Queen buried here is a direct descendant, whose mother was a full Annunaki. He suggests DNA testing on the skeletal remains of her and another to show they are not of this Earth. He wrote a letter to the museum holding the skeletal remains in a box (they have not been touched or researched, just stored away), only to get a reply that no testing has been done now or planned to in the future.

The above idea is what can prove possible extraterrestrial visitation and intermingling among humans. It also can explain why royal families have always been treated as divinity at times. If she does prove to be human, at least the research will be done and more information gleaned.

My problem with the book is there are no color or black and white plates in it of the photographs. I would of paid a few dollars more to see the plates as more detail of the artifacts and items in question could be seen. The illustrations and pictures are part of the text, and it can be difficult to make out what is being pointed out. Also, for some other readers, much of this book is just a repeat of materials in other books, with very little new material in it. The last quarter of the book is where all the new material is, and the first part is used to get us to see how he got there.

I highly recommend this book for Mr Sitchin's fans, and those who are interested in his theories. It is a very entertaining read and well written by him. Mr Sitchin was a true scholar and gentleman in this field, and it took a lot of courage for him to go public with his ideas. He has been personally ridiculed and attacked, including his academics. We need more people like him to come forward with their research and ideas. He will sorely be missed by us who hold the possibility that extraterrestrials visited us in ancient times (and still are now).

UPDATE ON THE DNA TESTS:

I have been to Mr Sitchin's website and found this written on it:

Dear Sitchin Friends & Fans,

Thank you for all your kind messages, we are sorry we could not respond to the numerous messages. I know you are all interested in our progress to test Nin.Puabi's bones which was the last wish and hope of Zecharia. As you are probably aware, before Zecharia died, he established "The Goddess of Ur Genome Project" to achieve this goal. Its work has been diligent and has thus far achieved the following:

1. The museum has been very cooperative and will in all likelihood allow the bones to be tested when a qualified person or institution comes forward to do that and satisfies the balance of the museum's protocol requirements which are all reasonable. This is presently being worked on.
2. Those of you who have been sending emails -- we thank you -- but at this point all emails to the museum should cease as the bombardment of further emails demanding the DNA testing of Nin.Puabi by Sitchin fans will only work against us. We will let you know if pressure is needed but it is best now to hold your energy in reserve.

Please continue to monitor this website for future updates.

Great review Max, I'll be reading it as soon as I can.

Let's all hope the DNA testing comes to fruition.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!

This is very good news indeed!! I've read Sitchin's first and last book and they were very good. I've often wondered why they would not do any DNA testing on those bones if it would prove or disprove something so very important to us.

I have also read "There Were Giants Upon the Earth". And indeed Max, it is highly recommended! Notice the explanation on the website saying the museum is cooperating but a person qualified to continue the "goddess of ur genome project" must step forward and present himself in order for it to continue. The History Channel should be all over this, the AA series should have a whole epsiode devoted to the late Sitchin culminating with the testing and subsequent results of Nin.Puabi's DNA. I hope they don't drop the ball on this.

I've just read The 12th Planet, but have all the others at my mother's house in the UK to collect in May when I'm next there...can't wait to read...hope the DNA test gets done soon.

Hope this story also gets picked up by AA.

I think what they want is an institute that deals in ancient DNA to come forward to do the testing, not an individual. Maybe the same one that did the genome sequence from Neanderthal Man.

I'm really beginning to think that 'Nibiru' just may be the Moon:

I have read a few books suggesting that the Moon is an alien planet itself. The materials that make up Luna are different than what makes up the Earth when they do percentages of it.

"Alien Agenda" by Jim Marrs goes into this theory in depth. I edited it to include the Moon as a response.

That's still fine, but there's no reason the History Channel couldn't help fund the research and film the whole process. Think of the exposure the university and scientists would have if they uncovered the first extraterrestrial hominid DNA! The ratings would be off the charts too.

That would make an excellent episode of Ancient Astronauts. I think I suggested it in the what would you like to see on AA board. It don't hurt to have more than one suggest it though.

Thanks for the book Review! So for someone like me who has never read a Sitchin book, where shoudl I start? Is this a good book to start with since it's kind of a summary of all his ideas and the last book he wrote? Thanks!

I've recommended "Genesis Revisited" to others attempting to get into Sitchin and now having finished reading all but 1 of his books i still maintain that is the best gateway text of his. It gives a solid synopsis of his interpretation of the sumerian tablets, the annunaki, the garden of eden, and some space anomalies. If that book tickles your fancy as it did mine...then jump right into the 12th Planet.

Since the others basically go more in depth about the subject, you could start with this one and get the full idea of Sitchin's ideas and theories. If you could find "The Twelfth Planet" original copy, I would read that one first.

I don't think there is a planet Nibiru and I also have many problems with how he deciphers the tablets, but he has amassed a lot of evidence from other areas on the ancient alien theory. The problem is those get ignored for the more controversial theory of Nibiru.

i find it strange this book doesn't have many pictures. the Earth Chronicle books were full of them, it was one of the best parts of readng them.

i haven't read this book yet but i have read 6 of the 7 EC series (12th Planet, Stairway to Heaven, Wars of gods and Men, the Lost Realms, the Time Code, When Time Began ,End of Days) so i plan to pick this up after End of Days.

i'm pretty sure bibliotecapleyades has them all up. Sitchin has something for everyone - AA, Egypt, Mesoamerica, temples galore, stone henge, biblical conections, ancient language and mathematics, advanced technologies in ancient times - all tied together into one theory. even if you don't believe all of it, you'll learn alot about alot of other subjects.
