This is quite interesting -

It is a great thing for people needing organ transplants, but think of how far this can go!

I think the growing of organs is a great idea, but like you angel, I also think of the movie Frankenstein where things can go horribly wrong.

Still the ability to not have to wait for someone else to die so you can get a new heart, liver etc is a great one.

When i was in College some 12 odd years ago.. I was in this advanced Victorian Literature class. My final paper was on Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and Modern Science. It was before now where we now know more about studies of cloning and body parts and brain cells and it was so interesting to me at the time. I did research for 2 months on my paper and never really could figure out where I was going because there was so much knowledge I could have written a book! I have always been a fan of Victorian Lit because you have so many minds thinking ahead during that age. It is very awe inspiring.

I bet that was some interesting research! :D

They can take a heart, from a donor/soak it in a cell dissolving solution and leave only the 'cast' or 'skeleton' of the heart. Then, apply cells from the receiver on the 'skeleton', and grow that heart into a heart with the receiver's cells. There is no rejection involved because the heart is now made with the receiver's cells. Absolutely amazing!

Amazing, and think if we can do this; worlds much more advanced than ours can do so much more.
