Time for a U.S. Revolution – Fifteen Reasons

Postby RaeRabies » Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:42 pm

This article is amazing. Now is the time to act. The tyranny has gone on for way too long

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/03/07-7

It is time for a revolution. Government does not work for regular people. It appears to work quite well for big corporations, banks, insurance companies, military contractors, lobbyists, and for the rich and powerful. But it does not work for people.

The 1776 Declaration of Independence stated that when a long train of abuses by those in power evidence a design to reduce the rights of people to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, it is the peoples right, in fact their duty to engage in a revolution.

Martin Luther King, Jr., said forty three years ago next month that it was time for a radical revolution of values in the United States. He preached “a true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies.” It is clearer than ever that now is the time for radical change.

Look at what our current system has brought us and ask if it is time for a revolution?

Over 2.8 million people lost their homes in 2009 to foreclosure or bank repossessions – nearly 8000 each day – higher numbers than the last two years when millions of others also lost their homes.

At the same time, the government bailed out Bank of America, Citigroup, AIG, Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the auto industry and enacted the troubled asset (TARP) program with $1.7 trillion of our money.

Wall Street then awarded itself over $20 billion in bonuses in 2009 alone, an average bonus on top of pay of $123,000.

At the same time, over 17 million people are jobless right now. Millions more are working part-time when they want and need to be working full-time.

Yet the current system allows one single U.S. Senator to stop unemployment and Medicare benefits being paid to millions.

There are now 35 registered lobbyists in Washington DC for every single member of the Senate and House of Representatives, at last count 13,739 in 2009. There are eight lobbyists for every member of Congress working on the health care fiasco alone.

At the same time, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that corporations now have a constitutional right to interfere with elections by pouring money into races.

The Department of Justice gave a get out of jail free card to its own lawyers who authorized illegal torture.

At the same time another department of government, the Pentagon, is prosecuting Navy SEALS for punching an Iraqi suspect.

The US is not only involved in senseless wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the U.S. now maintains 700 military bases world-wide and another 6000 in the US and our territories. Young men and women join the military to protect the U.S. and to get college tuition and healthcare coverage and killed and maimed in elective wars and being the world’s police. Wonder whose assets they are protecting and serving?

In fact, the U.S. spends $700 billion directly on military per year, half the military spending of the entire world – much more than Europe, China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, and Venezuela - combined.

The government and private companies have dramatically increased surveillance of people through cameras on public streets and private places, airport searches, phone intercepts, access to personal computers, and compilation of records from credit card purchases, computer views of sites, and travel.

The number of people in jails and prisons in the U.S. has risen sevenfold since 1970 to over 2.3 million. The US puts a higher percentage of our people in jail than any other country in the world.

The tea party people are mad at the Republicans, who they accuse of selling them out to big businesses.

Democrats are working their way past depression to anger because their party, despite majorities in the House and Senate, has not made significant advances for immigrants, or women, or unions, or African Americans, or environmentalists, or gays and lesbians, or civil libertarians, or people dedicated to health care, or human rights, or jobs or housing or economic justice. Democrats also think their party is selling out to big business.

Forty three years ago next month, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached in Riverside Church in New York City that “a time comes when silence is betrayal.” He went on to condemn the Vietnam War and the system which created it and the other injustices clearly apparent. “We as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a “thing oriented” society to a “person oriented” society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism and militarism are incapable of being conquered.”

It is time.

Good post Rae - Truthfully, I have no idea why a revolution already HASN'T happened. Things are on edge............and it seems close to tipping over. Possibly the unrest feelings many of us are feeling.

Thanks :). You know I see it happening really soon. A lot of people have that thought mentality of "if i ignore it, it will just go away" or "its not my problem i'm comfortable where i am"

Its hurtful and just straight out blows. My mom tells me all the time "why do you care Rachel its not your problem." What bothers me is that she is an intelligent woman. Ugh. Then the "everything to you is a conspriacy you are crazy" deal.

Ok sorry I'm ranting.

But it is OUR RIGHT as American citizens to overthrow this government.

Yeah things aren't good! And a lot of us are feeling it. I figure we are atleast one step ahead in that department anyway.

We need to start at the local level. Property taxes, fees and other costs keep on rising, but they stop doing many services. Local bureaucracies are worse when it comes to red tape than the federal government ever thought of. Also, don't get me started on the DMV.

A poor article.

It does not even touch on the major points that really matter such as how the federal reserve is a private bank that is allowed to create our currency so we are forever in debt. Nor does this article mention how the inome tax is a product of that and even unconstitutional.

Now that I think about it this article really does not speak about any of the major issues that we are facing in America. This article even uses Martial Luther King as an example as to what kind of revolution we should be having. Martial Luther King has been known to have advocated a Socialist system which most Americans are clearly against

Could it be that the population is drugged with prescription meds, and the media that divides the sheeple into two groups" the demopublicans and the republicrats? That's all they know! And, whatever you or I say to the contrary, we are looked as the wingnut

So true! We must stay one step ahead if we are to survive!

Not really. It touches on the points that are affecting everyday Americans. You and I know about the Federal Reserve and their unconstitutionality, but the average Joe and Jane doesn't. That's way above their heads. This article at least touches on what they can relate to as they are the ones feeling it. From this, hopefully, they will do more research, but I think not.

Fact is, the US is dying a slow, thousand cuts death as was planned 40 years ago by Brzezinski et al, and no one notices it. The sheeple look at the stock market, which reached a 2 year record high today above 12,000, and they think things are getting better when the truth of the matter is 90% of the trades are made by Goldman Sachs and the other major brokerages. Only 10% are made by individuals. Besides, the economy is in worse shape than it was a year ago. I know this because I am in the transportation industry and we are six months ahead of the economy and we are in as worse shape as we were in Oct, 2006 when things started to go downhill and it has NOT come back! Fact is the profits companies are showing is because Americans are paying way, way over cost for goods produced in China.

For example, in the past, let's say, NIKE sneakers were produced in a US factory for $50 taking into account all costs including salary, unions, OSHA regs etc. and they sold them for $100. They would only have a 100% profit. Now, they close the factories in the US, move everything to China and produce them for $10. BUT they still sell them for $100 and the sheeple buy them because it's "in" to have them. Now they have a 900% profit. That's why Apple and other major corporations are showing huge profits. It's not because things are better here in the US, but the average sheeple thinks it is because of the controlled media and corporate quarterly profits.

Even if the world economy crashes and they have to lower their prices in the US to say, $50/pair, they would still be making a 400% profit. Get it?

They (major brokerage houses) can move the stock market any way they want and when the average Joe gets sucked back in, thinking that the economy is getting better (HA!), they will sink it and take his hard earned savings yet again and he will be saying WTF? be more broker and more in debt, and begging the government to save them, which they will, at the cost of more freedoms. They don't get it and I'm afraid, never will as they depend on the the alphabet news, as well as FOX and MSNBC for their "news" which keeps the people divided into two camps.

Face it! The economy will NOT recover and never will as we have no more factories and a nation that does not produce dies a slow death. Clothes? Nope. China and Indonesia and South America. Tools? Nope. China. Furniture? Nope. China, et al. Fuel? Nope. Middle East. Computers and TV's and other electronics? Nope. China, Korea, et al. Produce? Nope. Most of it is imported. Steel? Nope. China and others. Lumber? Nope. We cut down trees here and ship them to China for processing into paper and such and ship the paper back to the US cheaper than we could do it in the US. Tell me people, what do we produce anymore besides arms for war? Hmmmm.

Tell me with a straight face we are not headed into the gutter and into a third world country who will soon be making goods for export to China.

You do know that all 10 planks of the communist manifesto are in full affect in any country with a central bank?

Yes, I am aware of the aims of Communists and NWO types.

They killed of many of my family as I stated before they were Kuban Cossack and Volga German. Two ethnic groups slated for destruction by Soviet Authorities.

I am a huge opponent of any of the NWO type ideologies thrust upon us.

thank you all

Postby epiphanee » Sat Feb 05, 2011 3:25 pm

I thank you all for you postings.

I believe the general public are feeling the hit the hardest and unfortunately short of us storming all our state capitals, it will not change. Money runs this country. Period. And money has no interest in sharing with those who don't have enough to feed their families or own their own homes instead of renting from bankers and investors. Free market and capitalist trade have gotten completely out of hand. It no longer serves any interest to most of us: suffering from the losses of homes and jobs. A commercial campaign might unite all those who are not afraid to say so, but change will be welcomed by all. I have had a thought that I have run past other people. A dissolution of the institution of a corporation. No corporations anymore. Corporations can't sue individuals. Corporations can't hide their debt in the bank accounts of CEOs. The physically unexistant corporations can no longer infringe upon the rights of the true citizens. Any thoughts?

I noticed a comment about the Federal Reserve. I was told the money in the US economy is backed by finances from China. It is true we forever stay in debt. But it is because 65% of our Federal budget is sent to China to pay interest on our loans.

I see what you mean. Very interesting information about the Fed. The information given to us about our economy is controlled by mainstream media, which happens to be owned by the Fed.

I also watched a 5 part series on the Illuminati. Very enlightening as well.
