isitmeorwhat? wrote::) It almost looks like to me like some type of tool maybe used for skinning animals perhaps I don't know it is very interesting for that fact. The only reason saying that maybe it was a tool for animal skinning of some sort is that I have seen many arrowhead and ancient tools actually collected near the Delaware river and my home town that look similar to this. I possess a few arrow heads the major bulk of all the arrowheads the collection of my family have been plundered and scoffed up over the years by of course other family members. There is a family near me however that has one of the biggest arrowhead collections ever compiled in the area from which I live.( Alot of their collection was donated to the local museum in the county seat.) Some of them are different tools for different jobs such as skinning and grinding. My friends have literally milk crates full of ancient indian tools and indian artifacts that almost seem to have grooves cut into some of them that actually fit the hand. The grooves are so smooth that you would swear they are machined. However Some of these tools most likley were handed down in the tribes for hundreds of years being that they were used so much their hands actually formed the grooves in them being used for hundreds and hundreds of years. It is a very interesting piece. You said you found i tnear a river bed? Thats where alot of Indian artifacts are still found today near the lakes and rivers where settlments were usually prevalent. Does it look like it could fit the hand and used maybe for some kind of tool? Or is it a stone that would be to big and bulky to be used for such a tool? Thanks for sharing I am always interested in ancient american stone artifacts. I haven't done it for years but I have been on arrowhead hunts a couple of times in my life . Usually when a farmers field has been tilled and raked till the point of where it is like a dusty baseball infield.(Unplanted yet) You then get a rain shower that beats down the dust to where it becomes like a hard pasty surface, you can then walk across the unplanted field and look for arrowheads I have only found a few chips and half arrow heads however I was with some buddy's who found some dandies! However it does look like some winged type of creature for that fact also too

Could you perhaps take other pics so we could see if there's evidence of milling or some type of work?
Interesting...

alienjedi wrote:Hmmm....can you detect any kind of tool work or anything around those edges. As you well know, nature can make things incredibly smooth and can fool us but that edge looks.....![]()
That bottom edge. The other stuff on top(a bird did you say?) I can't discern from the picture.
Do you have a picture of the rounded edge?
