Just watched "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" (Swedish version) and it was a great movie. I haven't read the books yet.

Oh yes I love the movie and the other two were good too. Steig Larrson planned on writing 10 books in the series. But he passed away in 2004. What a shame.
I haven't read the books either, but they are on my to do list.

Larsson left about three quarters of a fourth novel on a notebook computer, now possessed by his partner, Eva Gabrielsson; synopses or manuscripts of the fifth and sixth in the series, which he intended to contain an eventual total of ten books, may also exist. Gabrielsson has stated in her book, "There Are Things I Want You to Know" About Stieg Larsson and Me (2011) that finishing the book is a task that she is capable of doing.

That's great. Steig Larsson was a very interesting man and these books a are just a small part of what he created in his life, he was also very political. And some suspect he was really killed and did not just die of a heart attack walking up some stairs.

During the last 15 years of his life, he and his life companion Eva Gabrielsson lived under constant threat from right-wing violence. When a labor-union leader was murdered in his home by neo-Nazis in 1999, the police discovered photos of and information about the couple in the murderer's apartment. So it was not without reason that the couple took precautionary measures. They were never seen together outside the house, they moved mirrors in the hall and they always kept the blinds down. Those are just a few examples. Stieg was an expert in the area, and wrote a book of instructions on how journalists should respond to threats for the Swedish Union of Journalists ("Överleva Deadline", 2000)

If the remake can make $300 million worldwide, it will assure they follow them up with the other two.

I have heard a lot about these movies, and will probably watch the original when it airs on one of my Premium channels uncut.

I thought the books were great. I could barely watch the first Swedish movie, I thought it moved very slowly. The most recent version, which I was against originally (why do we have to Americanize everything), turned out really well I thought. It moved at a much more engaging pace...I never would have known the movie was well over two hours. And the guy who played the girl's new caretaker was a friend of mine when I lived in Amsterdam...that was really strange seeing him in that role.

Probably because we seem to think we have to have everything our way. A lot of Americans are too lazy to deal with subtitles.

I really liked all 3 of the films, but do agree they were slow.
