If money and time were no restriction...
...where would you travel tomorrow?
Egypt? Easter Island? The Nazca Lines in Peru? Puma Punku in Bolivia? Greece?
Why? Share your thoughts / travel fantasies with us!
Personally, it would have to be India because of the many temples carved in stone and the recent discoveries of underwater structures which I'd lke to investigate closer...
So, how about you?

For me it would have to be a very long agenda of successive trips split into continents a month at a time, with a month off each time. It is no fun travelling nonstop without having the opportunity to gather breath, plan the next leg, and process photos.
First trip: Cuzco and Machu Pichu Peru, not to mention all of the curious side trips. Then Tiahuanaco Bolivia. I read a really good book called "The Calendar of Tiahuanaco" by H.S Bellamy and P. Allan. Published in 1956 (I think it is out of print cause I don't see it on the Legendary Times Bookstore).
Second: British Isles. Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England. Of course I would hit every castle on the way but of particular interest are the Tap o'Noth and Finavon castle in Scotland which are vitrified by intense heat (?) , Rosslyn Chapel, Hadrian's Wall, Loch Ness, Nottingham, Warwick Castle, the bluestone quarry in west Wales where parts of Stonehenge originated. Of course, Stonehenge as well, and as many local town museums as I can manage. The Temple Church in London.
Third: France, Southern France (Occitans), and Spain. I would visit La Rochelle, Paris, and Limoges to do some family history research (this may take half the trip). Then to the land of the Cathars and Templars: Montesegeur, Rennes Chateau, Montpelier, Château de Quéribus, along with Aguilar, Peyrepertuse, Termes and Puilaurens, Then on to Aragon across the Pyrhenees mountains. Girona, Zaragoza, Madrid, Toledo, Seville, and Cadiz, and the Strait of Gibraltar. Then on to Portugal: the Alcazar in Segovia, church of La Vera Cruz. The castles in Ponferrada (in Leon) and Barberà, Vigo cathedral.
I will add more by editing...duty calls... |

thats a very cool and well thought out trip
i spose i should be ashamed of myself... here in england we have a structure thats as mysterious as any other yet i still have not seen it, Stonehenge!
well, i don't need lots of money or a wish list to see it so i think i'm starting my plans early and will make it a priority to go see the place very soon.
i'm going to make sure this happens in the next couple months and i will post pictures here on Legendary Times Forum _________________

Hey George,
Don't feel too bad about not having visited Stonehenge. I was there for nearly a year back in 1980 and didn't make it to Stonehenge either. I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall near Cambridge and this visit is one of the things that really started my interest in history. I did travel a bit during my stay, but mostly did East Anglia, since I always had to be back to work at the airbase within 72 hours. I have some great old photos of Thetford Abbey, Kings Lynn, Hunstanton, and Castle Rising. I even visited the Templar church (the "Stump" as it was called) in Boston and later saw the courthouse and cells in which they held the Puritans who later boarded the Mayflower for America. My English friends were a little amused that I even wanted to see those places, but they seemed to have a great time despite the crazy American in their midst.
Good times!
We really should post our travel photos somewhere so that others can benefit from our trips in some small way. Maybe I will dig those old ones up and post them on my website and link them here... or maybe in light of the fact that this thread was "hijacked" maybe it belongs somewhere else?
I also have my recent trip to petroglyph canyon in Nevada which I should post some photos. So much to do, so little caffiene...
Looking forward to seeing those photos!

.. I would love to visit China! It is still unexplored , as far as I know,
and it has great history.

If money and time were no problem? Hmmmm I would 'boldly go'.In short off planet!! The moon would be my first port of call to check out those strange structures on the surface. The one that peeks my interest is of a 'boulder' that has rolled across the lunar regolith leaving 'tracks' in the lunar dust. Also those tall columns.(That the Russians took a interest in if that book by Childress was any guide. It was called Extrterrestrial Archelogy)If the shadows they cast are correct they would be next,Then a jaunt over to Mars to get ground truth on Cydonia. Then a gravity assist via Jupiter to check out the Oort cloud.
C'mon Mr Rutan build Spaceship 4 so I can go!And if anone can build a refuelable NERVA rocket that can be topped up with water from exterrestrial resoures enroute please get in touch. That should reduce fuel costs nicely |

I'm with you. I'd even go if I'd receive a letter from Rutan (or NASA or ESA for that matter) saying that they can get me to the Moon or Mars, but there is no guarantee for a safe return.
I'd still go. In a heartbeat.
Sometimes I'm asked: "Why? Why would you do such a foolish thing? Why would you accept to maybe die just so you can go to Mars?"
Why? Because you'd become a pioneer. You'd enter the history books.
That's why.

As long as the human race exists those names shall be thought of.With space travel opening up thanks to Burt and co we could be next in the Hall of Fame!

I couldn't turn down an opportunity like that if it were offered either. Just the thought of exploring Mars has me thinking of the possibilities. vast canyons and plains with the possibility of discovering strange artifacts untouched by any human interference. Yeah, I would go even if there were no return trip.
But, I don't care about getting into the history books or any fame. I would actually prefer to keep my name out of it entirely. Maybe use a nickname or something just for the opportunity to go and try.
Too bad NASA was the only game in town 35 years ago. We could be doing just that, right now. _________________ Forge of Creation - http://www.aliengods.jbsheets.com

Ok, how about 'Bib Fortuna' then? Now there's a nice nickname for you!

oh man....
Got me...dang! I deserved it too. Just goes to show that anything you write is out there no matter what. I guess it really isn't possible to avoid the fame (or infamy) of anything you do.
It is good to have you back on the forum, Giorgio ...I think _________________ Forge of Creation - http://www.aliengods.jbsheets.com

Egypt in a heartbeat, with India not far behind.
I supposed if money and time were of truly no consequence i would love to explore in depth the continent of Antarctica, being from Buffalo NY i have this cocky attitude about cold weather and i think i'm up for the challenge. No one truly knows what lies buried deep under centuries of ice. _________________ ...welcome to this transmission... |

Hmm... if money and time was not an issue i would have to say my first stop would be..
Stonehenge! I've absolutely adored this mystical place for a long time now. I'd love to see how big the stones are in person.
Next stop: Nazca. I want to see the lines before they get washed out
Then: Egypt. I'd have to spend a lot of time there in the pyramids just studying and absorbing everything there. Its so wondrous.
Then definitely Puma Punku. I really want to learn more about this place cause the giant buildings that once were look like they were bombed!
Mayan temples of course. They are a very fascinating people.
and then probably Tiahuanaco, the rest of it. To see if there is anything else that is a mystery there.
I'm sure id go more places as I learned about them but this is all i can think of for now

| Egypt for me. Mostly just to kick Awass's ass though. Can't believe how many times I'd sit in the dark listening to the Art Bell show with Awass (sp?) spouting his crap. After I kick his ass I'd find his early space-relative stuff stash that he's hiding from all the rest of us. Can I say that? That's my fantasy anyway. |

That's a great fantasy, to go one round with that guy I wouldn't mind it myself.
If it were me I'd go straight to Puma Punku and investigate till I was blue in the face. Pictures, writings, voice recordings, everything I can think of to record stuff with. One thing I wouldn't go on a trip like that without: EM field meter. You never know what you'll find.
Yep, Puma Punku for two straight years. |
