Survivors ~ 1975-1977 BBC TV Series

This is just the best TV series, the complete series, all 3 season is on DVD, I got the DVD from my library, so check yours.
This is a brilliant program. 38 episodes and if I could have I would have sat and watched all 38 in a row, non stop!

Also beware, the BBC did a remake in 2008 and it ran 2 seasons and is not as good as the original. (it's also on DVD)

The premise of the show.

Survivors is a British post-apocalyptic fiction television series devised by Terry Nation and produced by Terence Dudley at the BBC from 1975 to 1977. It concerns the plight of a group of people who have survived an accidentally released plague.
The world's population is almost totally annihilated by a mysterious pandemic, accidentally unleashed by a Chinese scientist, referred to as "The Death" – it kills nearly the entire human population of the planet.

This show really makes you think about what is important and what drives people to stay alive and what lengths they will go to, sometimes just for a can of beans!
I really can't recommend this enough.

Any "prepper" out there especially will like this series. Not that is me necessarily, but I did pick up a few good pointers on survival! (just in case)

They made some very good science fiction shows during that era. One of my favorites is Blake's 7 which features a future Federation which is more of a dictatorship:

They were not afraid to kill off major cast members and had a great villain played by Jacqueline Pearce.

I vaguely remember Survivors being aired on my PBS station a while back. I will have to get the DVD of that one.

Blake's 7 was written by Terry Nation too. I'll see if I can get it from my library.

All 3 seasons of Survivors are good, but Terry Nation only wrote the first season and it was the best! He wrote a lot of Dr. Who too.

Terry Nation goes down in history as the man who created the Daleks. He got that name by looking at the encyclopedia set and saw the letters Dal-Eks. Rather interesting such a humble beginning for a popular villain.

I remember watching that when I was a kid, it was pretty scary stuff!

Wouldn't mind seeing it again, now that I'm an adult :D
