Russian Army Training in Colorado/DIA

Postby Foxlike Mulder » Wed Apr 25, 2012 12:23 pm

I saw this yesterday from a couple fringe sites, but it was published today on RT.com: The Russian Army will be holding joint exercises with our military in Colorado. This is a first. Not only does this come at a time when political tensions are high with regard to the Middle East, there has been a return to Cold War rhetoric in the last 6 months between the two nations. RT doesn't mention Denver Airport, but other sites do. For those not familiar, the CIA is headquartered in Colorado and rumored to have facilities underground at the airport. Hard to determine anything out of this future event other than it is really strange, especially given the current political landscape.

It may be a first there, but I met many Russian military officers when I served. We had many joint exercises with them after the Cold War as they were never considered our enemy.

I doubt it was the first time US and Russian combat troops did a training exercise on US soil. I do remember hearing about a few going on in my day.

That's what was mentioned in one of the articles...doesn't mean it was true of course.

I still don't like it...smells funny to me.

Edit: here is another article which quotes the US Army response.

CIA Headquarters are in Langley, Virginia. Langley is a neighborhood in the city of McLean, Virginia. The CIA probably does have a presence in Colorado considering the Cheyenne Mountain Complex is near Colorado Springs.

Zarbog, I am quite familiar with Langley; I have lived in the DC area for over 20 years (even had a family member work there). Whereas Langley still stands as the official HQ for the CIA, there has been a shuffle of CIA employees out to the Denver area over the last several years. There have also been articles published stating that domestic CIA operations would be headquartered out of Denver.

Now how much is actually out in Denver is probably something we'll never know...what I can put together is this...the US Gov't announced some time ago they were making a move to Denver. It was never retracted and because of the nature of the office, we probably won't get too much information on how things are shaping up there. Kind of like how the drone planes have been patroling inside our country for quite sometime now. I have a theory that there are rogue elements within the CIA that operate with their own agenda, and because of their power (intelligence and technology), they can get away with it. But what do I know?

The CIA is also not supposed to spy or do work against any US citizen on national soil. That is the FBI's turf. We don't know what new policies have been drafted by the Government since 9/11 to keep us "safe".

I sleep a lot better at night knowing the CIA is located in one area.

There are more intelligence agencies in DC than I can name (and probably even know about). Their mandates are ever-changing and cross over each other's toes all the time, including domestic charters like the one below within the CIA. The lines are easily blurred now with foreign no-corporate-stores-here! more accessible for all and even our own border fairly accessable to foreign nationals. Why there isn't just one intelligence agency has always bothered me; but then again, there are something like 5 or 6 different police forces operating within the DC city limits. Is it confusion by design, or just plain inefficiency? I think a little of both.
