It is plausible to suggest they recorded us with their video devices, audio devoices, and cameras. The footage they might have could buckle the pillars of written history. What if key parts of histroy were interpeted incorrectly?
"If suddenly there was a threat to this world from some other species from another planet, we'd forget all the little local differences that we have between our two countries and we would find out once and for all that we really are all human beings on this Earth…And yet, I ask, is not an alien force already among us?…

Trust must be earned, and one has a clear advantage over another, multiply that by ten. I have said it before and I have said it again, if contact with sentient alien beings is made, the first thing to study is their history and laws.

How do you study a history you cannot comprehend. In school today they teach a very light weight version of history that doesn't turly help you understand what happened nor does it provide you with the context to understand why decisions were made because you don't (generally) get to learn about all sides of the equation. So if there is contact with sentient alien beings, I do not think us studying their history and laws would help them gain our trust.

I must respectively disagree. Studying a people's history and laws tells you a lot about them. The best way to gain trust is to understand the person/being.

I do agree with what you are saying. I love history and many of the classes I had were so condensed it was not very fulfilling for me. I did go to the library and pick out many history books to read up on it.
The best thing to do is take a specialized history class at the local college. They usually deal with a time period and really delve into it. But not at the high school level.
maxmercury wrote:Mahalla, there are some good history teachers out there. I used the classes to open up my mind and look deeper into what was being taught. They are quite conservative and do not have many answers, but there are a few gems out there.
One has to ask around at the college/university when looking for what classes to take. There are classes which teach alternative views to what is out there. Jim Marrs taught a class about the JFK assassination and it was quite popular. He had a much differing view of what happened during those crucial days than the Warren Commission and the mainstream press.
