I have given this some thought. Suppose the Ancient Alien theory is correct, and we were visited from beings born outside of the earth.

It is plausible to suggest they recorded us with their video devices, audio devoices, and cameras. The footage they might have could buckle the pillars of written history. What if key parts of histroy were interpeted incorrectly?

Given that history is generally written by the victors or those with the most power or influence, I'm sure that anything shown would be extremely difficult for the general population to accept because it would challenge their fundamental beliefs. This is no different than any number of other belief challenging possibilities (e.g. actual evidence of Mary giving birth to Jesus or Jesus having a child).

I think the more fascinating question is if you asked "most people" if they would want to know the truth, would they take the time to understand the implications it would have before saying "yes"?

If aliens returned it would change more than just history. The news of the alien visitation alone will cause much discussion in itself.

I think there would certainly be some chaos, and probably some suicides from those that just can't handle their belief systems and what could possibly be their entire lives being torn to shreds and the betrayal they would feel from being lied to about the true origins of humanity. But, with some time it would settle down, we'd embrace the new technology we are given and hopefully move towards a more calm and peaceful world, and the universe beyond our door step. There is already enough physical evidence out there that should require history to be changed as it is.

How do you study a history you cannot comprehend. In school today they teach a very light weight version of history that doesn't turly help you understand what happened nor does it provide you with the context to understand why decisions were made because you don't (generally) get to learn about all sides of the equation. So if there is contact with sentient alien beings, I do not think us studying their history and laws would help them gain our trust.

I do agree with what you are saying. I love history and many of the classes I had were so condensed it was not very fulfilling for me. I did go to the library and pick out many history books to read up on it.

Maybe I misunderstood your question. What you ask "Could WE trust them?", I assumed you meant "us" as a collective race, rather and a single, specially trained person who could dive into their history and laws and gain a more comprehensive understanding. Although you could make the case that diving into those areas could make you NOT trust them. An easy example is to flip the question around: if an alien could understand all of our languages and watch our progression over the last 2,000 years, would they trust us? I think they might find some individuals they could trust, but I don't think it would be an all out humanity lovefest.

While studying their history and beliefs could help someone make a decision on whether or not to trust them, I don't think it gaurantees that we would trust them, though it would definitely help because it would be that much more information we have to understand them.

I do agree with what you are saying. I love history and many of the classes I had were so condensed it was not very fulfilling for me. I did go to the library and pick out many history books to read up on it.

Personally, I would skip the history classes (unless you are planning to become a conservative history teacher) because you will be getting just one person's slant on a particular timeframe. Seems to make more sense to just do the reading and researching yourself because it is much more interesting, probably more accurate, and definitely less expensive.

Wasn't it the driver that dealt the fatal blow? I know he was one of the shooters and did the shot that hit JFK between the eyes. I really wish there were more alternative history classes out there. And, more documentaries etc that aren't afraid to buck the establishment and put alternative theories and the real truth out there. I can't even at this point watch many on the Pyramids of Egypt because I can't stand the lies and misinformation that is put out, and repeated with only very slightly an amount of "new" and hardly useful information.
